INTUITION – THE SIXTH SENSE

Intuition is seeing with the soul.

Have we ever wondered – how come we know something when we don't know, but we feel we know it? – Well, that is the power of INTUITION.

Isn't it common for everyone to experience Intuition – the so-called "Gut Feeling" at some time or another?

The intriguing questions are –

• What exactly is INTUITION?

• Why do our intuitions turn out to be CORRECT many times?

The clarity on Intuition comes from an insightful quote by Mr. J. Krishnamurthy - "Intuition is the whisper of the soul".

Tough to decipher at first go! This profound thought prompted me to go deeper and understand INTUITION.

When we trust our Intuition, we become more empowered and happier. It entails depending on and believing in ourselves. When something is not going right for us, our soul always rejects it and conveys it differently. We must pay attention to any change in our emotions and feelings. These are our soul's calls. We must listen to ourselves and act.

In my forty years of medical practice (I have always wondered why we call it practice!) I have come across some patients worth referring to here. I will give you just one example (there are many). A patient reported not feeling right. I still remember his exact words –

"Doctor, something from inside is pushing me to seek your attention. I just can't ignore it". He did not have typical chest pain or any other specific symptoms but was found to have two blocks in his coronary arteries! Intuition does exist – we need to pay attention and take it seriously.

Albert Einstein has a discerning take on Intuition – "I believe in intuitions and inspirations...I sometimes FEEL that I am right. I do not KNOW that I am".

Intuition is not irrational as perceived by some. Carl Jung says: "Intuition does not denote something contrary to reason, but something outside of the province of reason." Einstein clears the distinction between an intuitive mind and a rational mind. To him, the intuitive mind is a sacred gift, whereas the rational mind is a faithful servant.

Sigmond Freud dismissed Intuition as irrational. In his opinion, Intuition was more out of the sheer intensity of perception than a rational judgment. As against this, PLATO describes Intuition as a pre-existing knowledge residing in the "soul of eternity" and a phenomenon by which one becomes conscious of pre-existing knowledge. (On the same page as J. Krishnamurthy).

Osho went a step further and said: "Living in the state of intuition is one of the ultimate aims of humanity". Advait Vendata (Hinduism) takes Intuition as an experience through which one can come in contact with the ULTIMATE reality – BRAHMAN – The whisper of AWARENESS. Profound, isn't it ? !!!

The clarity now sets in. Our inner voice – whispers of precognition – guides us to believe or feel in a snap. Researchers in Artificial Intelligence are trying to add Intuition to algorithms; as the "fourth generation of AI", this can be applied to many industries, especially finance. THETARAY partnered with Google Cloud to use artificial Intuition for anti-money laundering purposes.

Now it becomes easy to understand that INSTINCT is different from INTUITION!

Intuition is the ability to understand or know something without CONSCIOUS reason. Instinct refers to an INBORN TENDENCY, a NATURAL ABILITY. Intuition is an INSIGHT; Instinct is a REACTION & not a thought. In Intuition, a person decides without facts; in Instinct, a person responds immediately to a situation or fact.

Intuition needs Intention, too. Many times, we are afraid to act upon our intuitive feelings. Intention is a powerful tool if it is directed by intuition. We can trust our Intuition only if our intentions are pure. When we base our choices on the messages from our Intuition, we are bound to find our bliss and joy.

Let me end by quoting Shakti Gawain - "There is a universal, intelligent life force that exists within everyone and everything. It resides within each one of us as a deep wisdom, an inner knowing. We can access this wonderful source of knowledge and wisdom through our Intuition, an inner sense that tells us what feels right and true for us at any given moment."

Is Intuition not a whisper of the soul?
